Gujiya
Gujiya
Khoya gujiya is still the most popular one, but there are coconut gujiya, dry fruit gujiya, mawa gujiya, chocolate gujiya, baked gujiya, and rose-flavored gujiya as well. These variations are popularly enjoyed during Holi.
First, prepare a dough using flour and ghee. Roll into small discs. Fill the center with sweetened khoya and nuts along with cardamom, seal the edges, and fry until they turn golden brown. Dip them in sugar syrup for a coating.
Sweets and dessert beverages symbolize joy, prosperity, and togetherness during Holi. Sharing them with family, friends, and guests is a cherished tradition that adds warmth to the celebrations.
One can cook chocolate gujiya, coconut gujiya, dry fruit gujiya, baked gujiya, or even air-fried gujiya. The usage of ready-made pastry sheets will save your time as well.
Khoya gujiya can last from 2 to 3 days at room temperature in an airtight container or even a week if it is stored in a refrigerator. Always keep gujiya in a dry and cool place.
There are some low-sugar gujiya recipes as well; simply replace sugar with dates, jaggery, or other natural sweeteners. In addition, you can use whole wheat flour instead of maida and add nuts, seeds, or coconut.
While khoya filling is still very popular, now there are a lot of new flavors that can be used to make gujiya, such as chocolate, dry fruits, cookies, and even combinations. There are also baked and air-fried gujiya.
Try to create your own gujiya with a filling of Cadbury chocolate, brownie crumbs, caramel, pistachios, coffee, Biscoff spread, and fresh coconut. It will also be nice to coat gujiya with melted chocolate or decorate them with sprinkles.
The best choice of Cadbury chocolate that can be used for gujiya is Cadbury Silk, as it blends nicely with khoya and nuts. You can even use Cadbury Dairy Milk or Bournville.
Add melted Cadbury Silk to the khoya filling or just drizzle melted Cadbury Dairy Milk onto your fried gujiya. Also, you can cover half of the gujiya with chocolate and sprinkle it with nuts.
