The season for chocolate gifting and receiving is here and there is no better way to celebrate it than to serve chocolate drinks at your Diwali party! You will need someone to man the mixer, of course, because some drinks are meant to be had fresh from the blender.

Drinks are often overlooked when it comes to Diwali parties, especially with the desi fare that comes with savories like pani puri with its imli water, or spicy jaljeera with boondi floating on top. These are great, but how about kicking it up a notch and adding some sweetness to the drinks? After all, it is the festival of lights, where we don’t count calories.

Think mocha frappes, hot chocolate, fondues or even molten hot chocolate that will be a delight among kids as well as adults who take their sugar seriously. We’ve got a little something that ain’t so sweet even, coffee and dark chocolate! Here’s how you can whip up these dessert-like drinks right in your trusty decorative glasses:

1. Cadbury Bournvita Chocolate Drink

Boasting a unique blend of vitamins, minerals, and malted barley,Bournvita makes this a nourishing and delicious drink option for your Diwali party. Guests will love the chocolatey flavor and accompanying health benefits!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (whole milk works best)
  • 1 tbsp Cadbury Bournvita malted drink mix
  • 1 tbsp Cadbury cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  • In a small saucepan, prepare the milk over medium heat until warm, but not boiling.
  • Remove from the heat and add the Bournvita malted drink mix. Whisk it until it’s fully dissolved.
  • Add the cocoa powder and whisk it again until no lumps remain.
  • Add the sugar/honey and whisk it one last time. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • Pour into a glass filled with ice cubes.
  • For a thicker drink, use less ice or blend with ice in a blender.

2. Cadbury Cocoa Mocha Frappe

The high quality cocoa powder from Cadbury adds an intense chocolate flavor to this refreshing coffee drink. Guests are sure to love it and talk about it long after the drink disappears into their bellies!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (can use milk of choice - cow's milk, almond milk, soy milk)
  • 2 tbsp Cadbury cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 shot espresso coffee, or 1 tbsp instant coffee powder
  • Ice cubes
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions:

  • In a blender, add the milk, cocoa powder, sugar/honey and coffee.
  • Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy.
  • Add a handful of ice cubes and blend again until ice is crushed and drink is thickened.
  • Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream.
  • Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a thicker frappe, use less ice or blend without ice first, and then add ice and blend briefly.
  • Adjust the coffee amount to taste you can add more or less).
  • Top with chocolate shavings or sprinkles for the aesthetics and an Instagrammable frappe.

3. Cadbury Hot Buttered Rum

The Cadbury cocoa adds a nice chocolatey note to this classic cocktail. It's the perfect drink to keep your guests cozy during Diwali festivities!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Cadbury cocoa powder or Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar (chopped into tiny cubes)

Instructions:

  • In a saucepan, combine the water, rum, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
  • Heat on medium flame, stirring frequently, until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Once hot, pour into mugs and top each with a sprinkle of Cadbury cocoa powder or a few chocolate chips.
  • Serve warm, enjoying the sweet and spicy flavors of this winter warmer.

Tips:

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum.
  • Adjust spices to taste—you can add more or less cinnamon.
  • Garnish with cinnamon sticks or orange slices if desired.

4. Cadbury Whipped Cream Wonder

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
