Come on in! We’re about to have fun with Richie and his friends as Richville turns into Dessertville

Richie Rich cartoon characters as guava desserts and more

With its many adaptations including a live-action one, nothing beats the marvellousness of the 1980s version. From fending off robbers and foul people out to bankrupt his rich family, fighting aliens and tough villains, and even the tomfoolery featuring the iconic Butler Cadbury, the scaredy spoiled dog Dollar, and the transforming robot maid Irona, the cartoons series was a fun watch. Let’s relive the nostalgia and we turn Richville into Dessertville.

1.Chocolate Cake – Cadbury

We've waited for this one for so long! It's not a common occurrence to find a cartoon character that is named after your beloved brand that has been serving sweetness, since forever. Cadbury in this cartoon is the iconic butler who can do anything under the sun for the Rich family. By anything we mean anything. He might be the family's butler, but he acts as Richie’s personal bodyguard, on one occasion he plowed snow using his powerful chest when a blizzard obstructed the Rich family's travels. For this can-do-it-all English butler, nothing else but the sheer perfection of the chocolate cake will do.

2.Millionaire Muffin – Richie

Could there be a more fitting dessert for this rich kid who's leisurely walking around with hi-tech gadgets and has a fuss-free lifestyle? Millionaire muffins are one-of-a-kind indulgent desserts that could come in any flavor. They have a sunrise center of gooey caramel and a decadent frosting stuffed with typically pecan nuts, gold flake, or a single flaky salt—definitely rich people's stuff. He’s an easygoing kid and quite helpful not at all snooty like the usual rich kids, even with the $ 100,000 per week allowance. He and his friends use this money to help other people and fight crime, for this richness of character too, he deserves the extravagant muffin.

3.Chocolate Chip Cookie – Dollar

With the sheer amount of jumpscare this poor dog goes through, it's no surprise he loses his dollar spots (he's a Dollarmation after all) because of them, he's sometimes seen picking them up, and other times the spots run after its master. Richie Rich was paired alongside Scooby-Doo produced by the same company, and both dogs in each cartoon are cowards, for some reason. For this trait alone, a cold, brittle cookie for this pet dog, with his occasional show of bravery, is represented by the chocolate chips in the cookie.

4.Gingerbread – Irona

She is the robot maid invented by Professor Keenbean who keeps the Rich Manson sparkly clean and running, almost single-handedly. The comic book gave her superpowers whereas the cartoon adaptation showed her in her typical maid outfit, metallic skin with red hair, feather duster in hand, and the ability to transform into just about anything, like a transformer robot. Her presence in the cartoon feels like the warming scent of gingerbread during Christmas. The strangest part about this robot is, that she has emotions. She loves getting drenched in the rain, even though water makes her malfunction.

5.Sorbet – Gloria

Richie barely ventures out of his home and seems to have no other friends from the outside world other than Gloria. The TV series showed Gloria and Richie as budding adolescents, while in the OG comics, they are around 7-years-old. Gloria’s family isn’t rich like Richie and she detests it when Richie goes all dense and shows off his lifestyle, be it unintentional. But she does value his friendship and the two get along quite well including being loved by his scaredy dog Dollar. For the sweet Gloria, a sorbet is perfect, perhaps a watermelon to match her red hair.

6.Brownie – Professor Keenbean

The genius behind every gadget owned by Richie, Professor Keenbean is a marvel, with his tiny spectacles perched on the edge of his nose, which makes him the absolute nerd scientist that he is. He’s the head of the Rich Laboratories and has a stutter and can be quite clumsy. Safe to say his inventions are a mixed bag of success and failures, and it makes sense why he’s Richie’s tutor as well. For this scientist whose inventions have helped Richie and his family, mostly Richie, a brownie is perfect, just for his innocent and wholesome character.

7.Guava Cake – Reggie Van Dough

Poor little Reggie, in hindsight one can only feel bad for him, given how he gets spanked for any mischief or wrong he might do. Richie, his cousin, on the other hand, is the golden child, who barely causes any trouble, if ever. He loves pulling pranks and raining on Richie’s parade, and each time he never gets away with it and always ends up in trouble. His pranks are unbelievably tame as compared to the books, where he was younger. For this character, we picked something unusual, think guava desserts – a delicious guava cake, to represent his antics and the spanking he gets in return for those.
