Gulab Gulkand Laddoo

Diwali, this year, falls on 21st October. The festival not only brings the lights of diyas and rangoli but also the happiness of celebrating with family and enjoying delicious food. The festival has centuries of history behind it, celebrating the homecoming of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 long years of exile (vanvas). Houses in India light up with lights, prayers are made to Goddess Lakshmi, and gifts are exchanged in order to pass on blessings. However, no Diwali is complete without kitchens wafting with the scent of sweets.

Each household eagerly awaits trays of ladoos, barfis, and mithai piled high on tables. But in kitchens nowadays, home cooks are also putting a contemporary twist to the old favorites. In addition to laddoos and barfi, desserts with global inspiration are creeping into festival thalis. These recipes are not elaborate restaurant-style fare, but accessible and doable sweets that you can make in your own kitchen using ingredients from your pantry.

This year, instead of presenting the traditional classics, try to fuse tradition with a gourmet twist. From gulab gulkand laddoos to tiramisu bites, these popular & gourmet Diwali desserts are full of flavor and easy to make. So, take out your mixing bowls, trays, and spatulas. Let's go through step-by-step recipes that will make your Diwali spread unforgettable.
