When making a cooling Silk yogurt drink, you want it to be creamy and tangy with every sip. Here’s how to get that balance just right.

Yogurt Drink

Looking for a sweet, refreshing treat that soothes your soul and keeps your taste buds tingling in summer heat? Try this cooling Silk yogurt drink, a fusion beverage that delivers both creamy richness and lively tang in a single glass. Inspired by the Indian tradition of lassi and the irresistible smoothness of Cadbury Silk chocolate, this drink is a velvety, chilled wonder that tastes like dessert and feels like relief. The beauty of a cooling Silk yogurt drink lies in its perfect duality. It is rich yet refreshing, sweet yet tangy, indulgent yet light. With just a handful of ingredients and a few thoughtful steps, you can blend a luxurious summer drink that tastes like it came straight from a boutique cafe. So whether you’re winding down after a long day, looking for a nutritious indulgence, or trying to beat the heat, this drink nails the balance between decadence and refreshment.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (full fat or Greek style for best texture)
  • 1/2 cup chilled milk (dairy or plant based)
  • 1/4 cup Cadbury Silk chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder or cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes (as needed)
  • Optional toppings:
    • Grated Silk chocolate
    • Chopped nuts (like pistachios or almonds)
    • Whipped cream or a dollop of chilled yogurt
    • Cocoa powder for dusting

Method:

    1. To get the signature creamy swirl in your cooling Silk yogurt drink, you want the chocolate to integrate fully into the yogurt base. Melt the Cadbury Silk chocolate gently, either in a microwave by placing the chopped Silk chocolate in a bowl and microwaving in 20-second intervals and stirring between each burst until melted and smooth; or on the stovetop by using a double boiler to melt the chocolate slowly over low heat.
Silk Chocolate
    1. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly, enough that it remains fluid but won't curdle the yogurt when added. Don’t skip cooling. If the chocolate is too hot, it may cause the yogurt to split or become grainy.
    2. In a blender, combine the yogurt, chilled milk, sugar or honey, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt to round out the sweetness and cardamom or cinnamon if using. Blend for 40 seconds until smooth and slightly frothy. This forms the base of your drink and creates the soft tang you’ll be layering with chocolatey creaminess.
    3. Pour in the cooled, melted Silk chocolate while the blender is running on low speed. Blend for 15 seconds until just combined. Adding melted chocolate into a cold dairy base can be tricky. The key is emulsification, ie, pouring slowly while blending, which ensures a glossy, creamy finish without streaks or chunks. You’ll get a rich drink where every sip has the essence of Silk chocolate without overpowering the tang of the yogurt.
Melted Silk Chocolate
    1. Add a few ice cubes to the blender and pulse once or twice to chill the drink. Alternatively, refrigerate the blended drink for 30 minutes before serving.
    2. Pour into glasses, filling them about three-quarters full to leave room for toppings if desired.
    3. Suggested toppings include grated Silk chocolate, chopped nuts like pistachios, almonds, or cashews, cocoa dusting, or an extra yogurt swirl. The garnishes not only make the drink visually appealing but also enhance texture and balance.
Mixed Nuts
  1. When serving, pair it with a spicy Indian lunch to cool the palate. Or serve it as a dessert drink for dinner guests and no extra sweets are needed. Or pour it into popsicle molds and freeze for a chilled treat on the go.

Notes:

    • Add a teaspoon of rose water to the base blend and garnish with dried rose petals and Silk shavings for a floral, fragrant, and beautiful drink.
    • Add a few mint leaves or 1/4 tsp mint extract for a refreshing hit. Works wonderfully with the mellow Silk chocolate.
Mint
  • Add 1 tsp instant coffee or a shot of cold brew along with the chocolate for a mocha twist. It becomes a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based yogurt like coconut or almond yogurt. Swap in oat milk or almond milk as your liquid base. Use vegan dark chocolate or dairy free chocolate chips in place of Silk, or search for vegan Silk-style chocolate. Sweeten with agave syrup or maple syrup instead of honey. This version is slightly less tangy but equally indulgent and refreshing.
