Peda is a classic Indian festive favorite praised for its sophistication and flavor. It holds a symbolic importance in Indian culture and all of its variations hold a different value in a symbolic way. The core ingredients of peda include khoya, sugar, ghee, and cardamom powder. Servings
For the Recipe
- 1 packet Dairy Milk Chocolate
- 1/2 cup almond
- 1/2 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
Directions

Take a small bowl and soak the almonds in water for a minimum of 6 hours. This softens the almonds and makes them easier to peel and blend later.

After soaking, remove the skin from the almonds carefully. Transfer the peeled almonds into a blending jar.

Add sugar to the same blending jar with the almonds. If you prefer a healthier version, you can replace the sugar with jaggery powder.

Add cardamom powder to the jar. This will enhance the flavor of the mixture with its sweet and aromatic spice.

Break the Dairy Milk chocolates into small pieces and add them to the blending jar. Blend everything together until you get a smooth and uniform consistency.

Pour the blended mixture into a non-stick pan and add milk powder to it. Stir the mixture continuously on low to medium flame to avoid sticking or burning.

Cook the mixture for at least 5 to 6 minutes until it thickens into a smooth, tight dough-like texture. This step is crucial for achieving the perfect peda consistency.

Allow the dough to cool slightly until it’s comfortable to handle. Once cooled, shape into small round balls and gently press the center with your thumb to create a classic peda shape.

Place one whole almond on top of each peda as a garnish. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container once completely cooled.
You can also use ragi powder instead of milk powder to make the peda healthier and nutritious.
