For the dough
- Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour (maida) - 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Pinch of salt
- Ghee (or oil) - 2 tsp
- Water as needed to make the dough
For the stuffing (Puran)
- Chana dal (Bengal gram) - 1 cup
- Grated jaggery or Jaggery powder - 3/4 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
- Ghee - 1 tsp
- Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate - 1 packet
- Cashews (finely chopped) - 1/2 tsp
- Almonds (finely chopped) - 1/2 tsp
For roasting
- Ghee or butter, for frying
Directions

In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, maida, turmeric, salt, and ghee.

Add water little by little and knead into a soft, pliable dough.

Once the dough is ready, cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30–40 minutes.

Rinse and soak chana dal for 30–45 minutes. After that Pressure cook with 2–2.5 cups of water for 2–3 whistles or until soft but not mushy.

Drain and blend the dal to a smooth paste.

Heat ghee in a pan.

Add the mashed dal and jaggery.

Stir continuously on low heat until mixture thickens (10–12 minutes).

Add cardamom, chopped cashews and almonds.

Break the Dairy Milk Chocolate into pieces and melt it.

Add melted Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate to the pan.

Mix well till chocolate blends completely.

Let the mixture cool completely and after that divide into lemon-sized balls.

Divide the dough into equal lemon-sized balls.

Flatten one dough ball slightly, place a puran stuffing ball inside, seal and flatten.

Gently roll out into a thin disc (like paratha), dusting with flour as needed.

Heat a tawa / pan on medium heat, add ghee and place the rolled puran poli on the pan and cook each puran poli until golden brown.

Flip the puran poli and cook until golden brown and slightly crisp from both the sides. Once done, place on a plate, add grated dairy milk chocolate on top and serve warm.
Serve immediately. You can store the puran filling in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days.
