- Fresh grated coconut
- Jaggery
- Poppy seeds
- Nutmeg
- Cardamom powder
- Oreo
- Fine rice flour
- Water
- Ghee
- Salt
Directions
Heat ghee, roast poppy seeds. Add coconut, jaggery, nutmeg, and cardamom. Cook on low for 7–9 mins until the mix thickens. Let it cool.
Boil water with ghee and salt. Add rice flour and mix well. Cover for 4–5 mins. Add crushed Oreo and knead into a soft dough. Roll into small smooth balls and keep covered.
Take a ball and flatten it with your fingers to a round disc or a shallow bowl shape. Add the filling. Flute and press the edges. Bring together all the edges and join them.
Grease a steamer pan lightly with oil or ghee. Place the shaped modak in the greased pan with some space between them. Cover with a kitchen napkin. Take 2 to 2.5 cups of water in a pot or pressure cooker for steaming the Oreo Ukdiche Modaks.
Once the Oreo ukdiche modak are steamed, you can drizzle a few teaspoons of ghee on them.
