Tips To Avoid Lumps In Pudding
Make a slurry: To avoid lumps, combine cornstarch, sugar, and cocoa powder with cold milk or water to form a slurry. Add this mixture to the hot mixture instead of adding them individually.
Stir constantly: Keep stirring the milk over medium heat continuously. This ensures proper thickening of the starch without any clumping.
Use a whisk or a spoon as needed: Use a whisk for stirring, as it breaks up lumps efficiently. However, spoons are more useful in scraping the corners of the pot.
Focus on temperature: Make sure the entire cooking is done over a consistent low-to-medium heat. Cooking too fast over a high flame often causes uneven thickening and lumps.
Use a blender if lumps form: If lumps form during cooking, one may try blending the pudding with an immersion blender or pouring it through a fine-mesh sieve to strain out the lumps.
Chocolate Pudding Serving Ideas For Kids’ Parties
- Arrange pudding like layered parfaits: To make the pudding more fun for the kids, assemble it like a parfait in transparent cups to show off the layers of pudding, whipped cream, crushed cookies, and more.
- Serve on individual pots: Take some cute littlecharacter-themed serving cups for the little ones and serve individual portions in those small pots. These are perfect for avoiding sharing issues.
- Go for themed toppings: Once the pudding is ready, go with themed toppings like cartoon or superhero characters. One may simply use a stencil and sprinkle cocoa powder or icing sugar to create the characters.
