Directions

In a large mixing bowl, add softened butter and brown sugar. Using a whisk or electric hand mixer, cream them together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. This step helps create a smooth, airy base for your cookies.

Crack in the eggs, pour in the vanilla essence, and sprinkle in a pinch of salt. Continue mixing until everything is well incorporated and smooth.

Add all-purpose flour and baking powder to the wet mixture. You can sift them together beforehand to avoid lumps.

Gently fold using a spatula or wooden spoon. Mix until a soft dough begins to form. Do not overmix.

Chop the Cadbury Bournville chocolate into small, bite-sized chunks. The more evenly sized, the better for even distribution in the dough.

Once the dough is coming together, fold in the chopped chocolate pieces. Make sure they are evenly spread throughout the dough.

Give the dough one final gentle mix to ensure it’s smooth and the chocolate is well incorporated. You should now have a rich, chocolate-studded cookie dough.

Step 8
Divide the dough into equal-sized portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then cut or pinch them into smaller cookie-sized pieces if needed.

Step 9
Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, gently press down each dough ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten slightly, don’t press too hard.

Step 10
Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F). Place the tray in the center of the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges turn slightly golden while the centers remain soft.

Step 11
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them firm up and enhances their texture.

Step 12
Serve warm or at room temperature with a glass of hot milk for the perfect comforting treat. Enjoy.
