Servings
For the Recipe
- 5 pieces of store bought gulab jamun
- One bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk
- 1 tbsp of rose petals
- 1 tbsp of pistachios
How to Make A Gulab Jamun Silk Truffles

Arrange the gulab jamun pieces on a wire metal rack with a tray underneath to drain all of the excess syrup.

In the meantime, chop the pistachios into fine pieces.

Then chop your Cadbury Silk into fine pieces too and then transfer them into a microwave-safe bowl.
Melt the chocolate in 10-second intervals, and stir every time so you get an even melt.
Then line a tray with baking paper.
Prepare the gulab jamun by inserting tooth picks.
Dip one gulab jamun at a time in the melted chocolate till the entire surface area is covered.
Use a toothpick to carefully pick it up from the chocolate bowl and place it in the baking paper-lined tray.
Sprinkle the final product with rose petals and chopped pistachios.
Once you’re done making all the gulab jamun chocolate truffles, refrigerate them for an hour or so.
Serve them cold so that the dessert is dense with flavors and also slightly fudgy.
Tips & Tricks
- If there's any leftover syrup on the surface, the chocolate won't stick evenly. Press gently with paper towels on all sides, changing towels if saturated.
- Skewering each jamun gives you more control when dipping and keeps fingerprints out of the chocolate. It also allows easier lifting and placement of each truffle without disturbing the coating.
- Let the first layer of chocolate fully set in the fridge before adding a second coat for a smoother, more even finish. If you skip this step, the layers can blend messily and not build up cleanly.
- Chocolate that's too hot can melt the syrup underneath, and chocolate that's too cool will coat unevenly and look streaky. Gently melt in brief bursts, stirring often, until just smooth.
- Add the pistachios and rose petals within a minute or two of dipping, before the chocolate sets, as they need something to stick to. If you wait too long, the garnish will not stick properly.
Why This Fusion Dessert Works So Well
The reason Gulab jamun and Silk chocolate pair well is that they are both soft and sweet, but in different ways. Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk is milky and rich, but does not overpower the syrupy jamun, which remains a traditional flavor that shines through a new glossy exterior. This recipe for gulab jamun silk truffles takes two classic desserts and makes them feel brand new.
How to Store Your Gulab Jamun Truffles
- Syrup-soaked center means these truffles must be refrigerated in an airtight container. If left out at room temperature for too long, the coating can soften unevenly.
- Refrigerated, these truffles will keep for 2-3 days. The chocolate coating may dull a little with age, but is still perfectly edible.
- Let the truffles sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving so they have the best texture. This makes the chocolate a bit softer but does not melt it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use homemade gulab jamun instead of store-bought?
Sure. Homemade ones can hold more liquid than store-bought ones, so just be sure they are well drained of syrup before dipping.
Why did my chocolate coating crack while dipping?
Often this is the case when the jamun is too cold or the chocolate cools down too fast. Allow the jamun to rest at room temperature for some time before dipping.
Can I use dark chocolate instead of Silk?
Yes. It goes well with Cadbury Bournville for a richer, less sweet coating, but that changes the flavor profile from the original milky Silk version.
How long do these truffles stay fresh?
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Best eaten within the first 2 days for optimal texture.
