Servings
For the Recipe
- Dairy Milk: 2 packets
- Rice Flour: 1 cup
- Water: 1.25 cups
- Ghee: 1 teaspoon
- Grated Coconut: 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
- Cashews: 2 tablespoons (finely chopped, optional)
Directions

Finely chop the Dairymilk chocolate bar into small pieces.
In a small bowl, combine the chopped chocolate with the grated coconut and the chopped nuts/crunchy topping. Mix well until incorporated.

Prepare a soft, pliable rice flour dough by mixing rice flour with hot water.

Knead it well until it forms a smooth dough.

Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it into a small circle using your palms. Using a modak mold or any mold, gently press it.

Place a spoonful of the chocolate-coconut mixture in the center

Carefully close and shape the dough around the filling, ensuring it is well-sealed.

Place the prepared modaks in a steamer or idli cooker. Steam for a few minutes until the outer rice flour shell is cooked and translucent.

Let the modaks sit uncovered for 2–3 minutes after taking them off the heat. Serve and enjoy.
Steam them on medium heat for strictly 8 to 10 minutes. Over-steaming can make the rice flour outer shell hard and rubbery.
