Sweet And Sticky: How To Make Balushahi For Chhath Puja

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup ghee
1/2 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
Water (as needed)
Oil (for frying)
1 cup sugar (for syrup)
1/2 cup water (for syrup)
1/4 tsp cardamom powder (optional)

Prepare The Dough

To make a soft dough, combine flour, ghee, baking powder, salt, and water. Give it a half-hour to rest.

Shape The Balushahi

Form into little balls, press down a little and create an indentation.

Deep-Fry

Deep-fry in hot oil over low heat until golden brown. blot with paper towels.

Soak And Serve

Bring sugar and water to a boil until a single string is formed. Let the fried Balushahi soak in the syrup.
