Moong Dal Kheer 101: A Beginner’s Guide To This Festive Favorite

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal
1/2 cup ghee
2 cups milk
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews)

Soak

Soak moong dal for 4-5 hours. Once soaked, drain and gind to coarse paste.

Cook

Heat ghee in a pann and cook the dal paste in it until golden.

Add Milk

Add milk to the cooked moong dal paste and stir well to combine.

Add Flavor

Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands for flavor. Mix well and cook until halwa is thick.

Garnish and Serve

Garnish halwa with chopped nuts and serve warm.
