How To Make Perfect Sufganiyot: The Ultimate Hanukkah Treat

Ingredients

3 ½ cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
4 tbsp (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
Jam for filling

Prepare Dough

Activate yeast in warm milk, add it to flour with a pinch of sugar. Add salt, sugar, vanilla, butter, eggs and knead to make a dough.

Let Rest

Knead the dough for 10 minutes in a mixer then let for 1 hour to rise.

Shape Sufganiyot

Make small circles with dough and cover with a damp cloth to rise again for 30 minutes.

Fry 

Heat oil and fry the balls for 2 minutes until golden.

Fill and Serve

Fill the doughnuts with jam and dust with powdered sugar to serve.
