How To Make Candy Fruit At Home

By Deven Bhatia

Fruity Prep:

Wash and peel your chosen fruit, leaving just the good stuff. For citrus peels, gently remove the bitter white layer.

Shape It Up:

Slice, chop, or leave whole – get creative with fruit shapes! Some shine in slices, while others delight in cubic bites.

The Hot Bath

Bring water to a rolling boil, then give your fruit a quick dip. This softens their armor and chases away bitterness.

Syrupy Paradise:

In a saucepan, create a sugar wonderland by mixing equal parts water and sugar. Want to amp up the sweetness? More sugar, please!

Sugar Melt Down:

Over medium heat, stir this sugary duo until the sugar surrenders, dissolving completely. Voilà, a simple syrup is born!

Fruity Dive:

Gently introduce your blanched fruit to the simmering syrup, ensuring they're fully submerged. Imagine them taking a sugar bath!

Candy Transformation:

Let the fruit simmer in this sweet embrace over low to medium heat. As time ticks by, they'll become translucent and absorb the sugar, transforming into candy magic (this can take 45 minutes to an hour).

Cool Down & Shine:

Use a slotted spoon to gently transfer your candied creations onto a parchment-lined tray. Let them cool and dry completely, basking in their newfound glory. If desired, roll them in extra sugar for an extra sparkly touch.
