How To Make Brigadeiros: The Iconic Brazilian Chocolate Truffles

By Bhavana Verma

Ingredients

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons butter (plus more for greasing)
Pinch of salt (optional)
Chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut (for rolling)

Prepare the mixture

Combine condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and salt. Cook on medium flame and stir occasionally until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides.

Cool the mixture

Once the mixture is done, remove it from the flame and transfer it to a greased plate or shallow dish. Chill in the fridge for 2 hours.

Shape truffles

Once the mixture is sufficiently thick enough to handle, take a little bit in your hands and roll into balls.

Roll in Toppings

Once all the balls are made, roll them into chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut.

Serve

Serve the prepared brigadeiros in small paper cups.
