Turning the pleasure of peanut butter into crunchy cookies, this article will help you learn how you can make peanut butter blossoms with the addition of Oreo crumbs to derive a chocolatey flavor. This fusion is perfect for party platters, hors d'oeuvres, and several events.

Follow this simple recipe with detailed instructions:

Ingredients:

For the cookies:

  • 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the crumb coating & topping:

  • 8–10 Oreo cookies, crushed into fine crumbs
  • 24–28 dark chocolate chips or kisses

Method:

Step 1: Preheat the oven

Start off by setting the oven to 350°F (175°C) for preheating. Preheating the oven helps in baking the cookies evenly and creating the right texture. After the oven is set, prepare baking sheets by lining it with parchment paper.

Step 2: Make dough

Take a large bowl and combine butter, crunchy peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in it. Beat the ingredients together well until they show a fluffy consistency.

Add eggs and vanilla extract into the beaten mixture and mix everything well until combined. Make sure to not overmix as it can deflate the mixture.

In a different bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Once combined, gradually add this dry mixture into the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 3: Prepare Oreo Crumb Coating

Put the Oreo cookies with the cream inside into a food processor

And pulse until cookies are evenly crushed. You can also crush the cookies by sealing it in a bag and beating with a rolling pin, but using a food processor ensures that you get even crumbs.

Combine this prepared crumb with granulated sugar.

Step 4: Shape and Roll

Now it is time to shape the dough into blossoms. For that, scoop 1 tbsp of dough and roll it into balls with greased hands. Every dough ball needs to be equal size for better presentation. After that, roll each ball in sugar-Oreo crumb mixture so that it sticks to the surface.

Step 5: Bake

Place the prepared balls on the parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart so cookies get space to blossom. Bake for 9-11 minutes into the preheated oven until the edges turn slightly golden. Take the cookies out once done.

Step 6: Add Chocolate Center

While the cookies are still hot our of the oven, immediately press a chocolate chip or chocolate kiss into the center and press it down slightly to make a dip in the center. The edges of the cookies will crack after you press chocolate down so don’t worry.

Step 7: Serve

Let the blossom cookies cool down for 5-10 minutes then transfer them on a wire rack. Cooling the cookies down will help in hardening and give cookies a crunchy texture. Once cooked, serve the cookies with any dessert on the side.

Tips:

  1. Let the cookies cool down completely before serving so that chocolate can sit in the center and make the core delightful. You can also chill the cookies to get a firm center.
  2. Use double-stuffed Oreo cookies to get a softer and sweeter coating. Double-stuffed Oreo cookies come with twice the amount of cream in the center than regular cookies which gives the crumb a softer and sweeter feel.
