Eggless Silky Chocolate Mousse in 10 Minutes: Recipe

Be it a random chocolate craving or a friend coming for a sleepover, this eggless, quick mousse recipe can be an ultimate saviour. Made with just a few simple pantry ingredients, this creamy delight takes just 10 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark/semi-sweet chocolate
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ cup unsalted, softened butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries or chocolate shavings

Step-by-step guide

Step 1:

Start by finely chopping dark or semi-sweet chocolate.

Measure the quantity accurately in a standard American measuring cup.

Step 2:

Now, place the chopped chocolate in a bowl that can be easily placed on top of a saucepan for the double boiler method. Take ½ cup of water in a small saucepan and allow it to come to a light boil. Melt the chocolate using the double-boiler method and set it aside

Step 3:

In a mixing bowl, take heavy cream, instant coffee, a pinch of salt, and softened butter and mix them well. Make sure that all of the ingredients are at room temperature.

Step 4:

Once the mixing is over, add the mixture to the melted chocolate and stir it over a low flame to form the signature creamy consistency of chocolate ganache. Make sure there are no chunks of unmelted chocolate remaining. Once done, remove the bowl from the stovetop and allow it to cool completely.

Step 5:

In a separate mixing bowl, take the rest of the heavy cold cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric blender and whip the cream at medium to high speed until soft peaks arrive.

Step 7:

Now add the chocolate ganache to the whipped cream and whip them together until the classic creamy texture is formed.

Step 8:

Once the whipping is over, spoon equal portions of mousse into small glasses or bowls. Using a spatula, make the surface even. For garnishing, use fresh strawberries or chocolate shavings.

Tips & Tricks To Follow

To achieve the desired smooth and creamy texture, it is recommended to finely chop the chocolate into uniformly small pieces. Finey chopped pieces melt faster than large chunks.

For melting chocolate, a microwave can be used as well. However, in this method, there is always a higher risk of scorching the chocolate. To avoid that, make sure the chocolate is removed every 10 to 20 seconds and stirred well until fully melted and smooth.

Make sure that the chocolate ganache is completely cooled before adding it to the cold whipped cream. Warm ganache often leads to a grainy or lumpy consistency that doesn’t go well with chocolate mousse.

Making this simple, eggless

chocolate mousse

is one of the easiest and fun ways to serve happiness in a small jar. Whether there is an occasion or just a regular day craving, this dessert always makes things better.
