Recipe For Oreo Energy Balls With Dry Fruits:
Ingredients
- 10 Oreo biscuits (any cream variety)
- ½ cup seedless dates (soft and pitted)
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 2 tbsp chopped cashews
- 2 tbsp chopped almonds
- 1 tbsp chia seeds or flaxseeds (optional)
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder (optional, for extra richness)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (only if needed for binding)
Method:
Step 1: Prepare the Oreos
Break the Oreo biscuits into pieces and add them to a blender or food processor. Pulse a few times to make a coarse powder. The Oreo crumbs should resemble wet sand and upon holding in a fist, it should hold up the shape well.
Step 2: Add the Dry Fruits
Now add dates, raisins, cashews, and almonds to the blender. Also add chia/flaxseeds and cocoa powder for a deep cocoa flavor. Blend everything until the mixture turns sticky and holds together when pressed. This will become the natural binder for the balls.
Step 3: Adjust the Texture
Milk can work as the binder for the balls if the mixture has become too dry. If the mixture is too dry to roll, add 1 tbsp of milk at a time and blend again until you get a shapeable consistency. The balls should hold the shape naturally without falling apart. Alternatively, you can also add some condensed milk.
Step 4: Roll into Balls
Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls using your palms. You can make 10–12 balls depending on size. Make smaller balls if you are serving it to kids less than 5 years of age. Smaller portions will make it easier for them to chew and enjoy.
Step 5: Set and Store
Place the energy balls on a plate. Enjoy immediately or keep in a fridge to chill for about 15 to 20 minutes. Freezing will firm up the balls, making them hold the shape for longer if the weather is humid or if you want to serve it later. You can also store the balls for longer in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.
