Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie With Walnut Base: Step-by-Step Guide
Start with the Walnut crust
Grind the digestive biscuits and walnuts together in a grinder, blender, or food processor until they form a crumbly mix. Transfer them to a mixing bowl and then add melted butter and honey. Combine all the ingredients well until they hold together and form a cohesive mixture.
Once the mixture is prepared, use the back of a spoon and press it into a pie plate or a tart pan, and make sure the entire bottom and sides are covered. Now, put the tart pan/pie plate in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least 30 minutes, as a properly chilled crust always provides a solid foundation for the creamy chocolate filling.
Work on the Chocolate Filling
To start with the chocolate filling, grind the peanuts into a powder. Transfer it to a mixing bowl. Place a small saucepan over low heat, pour the cream, and allow it to get a little warm before adding the chocolate and butter. Now stir the mixture well and transfer it to the peanut powder mixing bowl. Keep mixing all the ingredients until they all turn into a smooth blend, and add vanilla extract. Make sure that the consistency of the peanut butter and chocolate filling is slightly thick so that the walnut crust can hold it well.
Assemble the Pie
Once the chocolate filling is prepared, take out the walnut crust tart pan/pie plate from the refrigerator. Slowly start pouring the chocolate and peanut butter filling, and fill up the crust with a spatula. Make sure that the uniform thickness is maintained across the entire base. To further add some crunchy, nutty texture, you can place some chopped nuts over the filling.
Once the pie is assembled properly, loosely cover it with foil to keep it fresh, and immediately put it back in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least 4 hours. This chilling part is crucial as it lets the gooey, creamy chocolate filling rest solidly on the nutty crust.
Make Clean Slices and Serve
After 4 hours of refrigeration, take the tart pan/pie plate out of the refrigerator and slice it using a sharp and warm knife to ensure neat and clean cuts. The chocolate peanut butter pie can either be served as is, or you can serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence.
