Why Are Chocolate Dipped Strawberries With Almond Crunch A Perfect Treat?
Not only can you prepare these chocolate-coated strawberries for parties, you can also prepare them as a gift for festive occasions. Bite sizes make it easy for you to pack them up in adorable gift boxes and give them to your loved ones. Chocolate-coated strawberries offer numerous options for serving, making them a perfect dessert for any occasion. More than just a dessert, it is a delightful sweet treat you can give to yourself when you are tired and want a sweet snack to ward off the stress. It is even better for a romantic setting when you just want to enjoy some quality time with your loved one.
This recipe elevates the classic chocolate-coated strawberries to the next level by introducing the crunch of almonds. Almonds combine the flavors of fruity strawberries and bitter chocolate. It becomes a bridge between the two most contrasting flavors, allowing you to experience the little crunchy and nutty nibbles in between the flavor rollercoaster. The addition of almonds complements both chocolate and strawberries. Chocolate finds a milder companion in the nutty flavor of almonds, and strawberries get a platform to shine with their fruity essence. This trio is unbeatable, no matter which dessert you pair it with. From cakes to mousse, every dessert becomes eccentric with the combination of strawberries, walnuts, and chocolate. It is naturally sweet, making it perfect for those who are cutting down on sugar and want to maintain a healthy diet.
You can garnish these chocolate-coated strawberries with a drizzle of white chocolate, gold foil, and silver-coated cardamom pearls to pair with drinks. Check out the easy recipe below and make this treat at home for a romantic dinner.
Ingredients:
- 12–15 fresh, large strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
- 200 g good-quality dark chocolate (or milk/white if preferred)
- 50 g roasted almonds, finely chopped
- 1 tsp coconut oil (for extra shine in chocolate)
Method:
Step 1: Prep the Strawberries & Almonds
First, wash and dry the strawberries well. Washing will remove all the dirt and residue from the surface. Make sure to pat it dry well with a paper towel. Even when the strawberries have little droplets of water, it will cause the chocolate to seize and not coat well.
Prepare the almonds by roasting them and spreading them out on a plate to cool.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
Heat water in a saucepan until it just starts to simmer. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set it over a heating saucepan, keeping it above the water. The rising steam will settle at the bottom of the bowl, melting the chocolate. Stir the chocolate until smooth. Once melted, add some coconut oil and stir well to achieve a shiny finish.
Step 3: Dip & Coat
After melting the chocolate, it is time to coat the strawberries. Hold the strawberries by their stems and dip them into the melted chocolate one by one, coating them well from all sides. Hold up the strawberries and let the excess chocolate drip off. After dipping, roll the strawberries in chopped almonds and place them on a parchment-lined tray or a plate. Let the strawberries sit at room temperature until firm.
Step 4: Serve
Arrange the strawberries on a designer platter and garnish with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, gold foil, and edible flowers for a gourmet look. Best served with champagne or sparkling wine.
